My 2014 SAL's

I've decided to join some SAL's this year.Hopefully I haven't over extended myself and I can get a little more stitching done.
The first one is the Just Nan SAL, Zeb is hosting this and you can read about it in a older post or go over to her blog for more information.
I have Side by Side Parts 1&2 that I will start on Jan.1.and stitch, then I have several smaller designs that I can stitch once this is finished.I've had this design for about 4 years so it's time I stitched it.

The other SAL is Smalls SAL and is being hosted by Silverlotus , go by and check it out.I have a few small pieces I've had laid aside to stitch but haven't got around to so maybe this will help motivate me to get them finished.

The next one is hosted by Mel , you can read all about it on her blog. It's Stitch From Stash. I have alot of things in the basket waiting to be stitched so I'm going to do this year.

I skipped last  year but think I'm going to do TUSAL this year. You can go to Daffycat blog to join or read more about the SAL.

Just Nan SAL for 2014

I signed up to do a Just Nan SAL for 2014. Zeb from Keep Calm and Cross Stitch is hosting the SAL, I've always loved Just Nan designs and have stitched several. I do have a few that haven't been stitched so this gives me a good reason to get them out and start. So I have a larger one ready to go in January.

If your interested in stitching along go over to Zeb's blog and check it out.

Works In Progress

I used to never stitch more than one project at a time but in the last few years I've been doing more than one. Right now I'm stitching three. Actually two of them are cross stitch and the other is beading. I've been stitching probably about 30 years or longer and have never stitched a Heaven and Earth Design. But I saw a design that I kept looking at, so decided I had to do it. It is called French Filigree and I'm stitching it on 25ct. over 1 using 1 strand of silk thread from Vicki Clayton. There was a glare when I took the pic of the wip, so it looks like a spot on the fabric.

The other WIP is  Mirabilia Design. Before last year I hadn't stitched one of these designs either. A lady approached me about stitching a piece for her and it was Enchanted Mermaid. After I stitched that I wanted to stitch something for myself. I found Lady of the Mist. I'm stitching it on 32ct (can't remember color) over 2 using recommended threads.

The pic should of been rotated but for some reason didn't .

The beading piece I'm doing is a Waterhouse. I'm doing it in brick stitch using delica beads.

For some reason this didn't rotate either.

I need to have more hours in the day to do my stitching,

Astoria

This design is from The Gift of Stitching magazine, 2010. It is by Virginie Lykins.  She is a collector of antique patterns.
She charted this antique Berlin wool work pattern.
I stitched it on 28ct. Linen using silk threads. I had thought about making it into a cushion, but hubby thought it should be framed and now is hanging in the dining room.

Sorry the pic really doesn't do it justice.

Lady of the Mist

This will be my first Mirabilia design to stitch for myself. I just have to get a few threads I'm short on.

A year ago I stitched Emerald Mermaid for a lady , before that I didn't have any of her designs, didn't think that was something I would ever stitch. I've been looking and found several that I would love to stitch. I came across this browsing on etsy.com
I'll try to post pics as I go along.

French Filigree

Well it's been awhile since I last posted. Hopefully I can find time and try to post more often.

This is my first Heaven and Earth design. I'm just starting today and I will be stitching over one on 25ct. using Vicki Clayton silk threads. I'll try to post progress pics along the way.

Ornaments

Well,I know I've not really been good about posting regularly, but I can't believe it's been this long since I last posted.I'm still not stitching a lot, can't quite get in the mood. I have a couple of things started but that's about all I can say. I have finished a few beaded ornaments.

This one is Called Fizzy Festive Champagne Ornament. It is designed by Cathy Lampole.

This one is Victorian Charm also by Cathy Lampole. This was in an older issue of Bead&Button.

I also decided to try some sequin and bead ornaments. I was looking around on the web and came across NewLeafCrafts blog, she has some lovely ornaments that she has made.Hers is much prettier than mine, I used what I had on hand.

This one I was just doing as I went along, didn't turn out to bad.

A Few Finishes

I've got a few finishes to show. It seems lately that it takes me forever to finish even the smallest piece. This was a kit that was given to me and I decided to stitch it even though I wasn't quite in the mood.I'm not a big fan of kits and this was stitched with a lot of half stitches. Should of went faster than it did.  Anyway I gave it to my daughter. She is redoing a room and has some prints that this will go with nicely.

This is a little kit my daughter gave me at Christmas that I'm just now doing. It's called Sapphire Snow, a Mill Hill Kit.
It went pretty well except for Sophie wanting to sit in my lap with the beads.

And finally this one, seems I've been beading more. This is called Pineapple Lace.
I ordered the pattern and kit from beadedpatterns.com

Hopefully I will feel like stitching before long, I have so much waiting in my basket, Good thing I haven't bought anything new.

FINISHES & A QUESTION

Well, first my question. With the price of framing getting so expensive, What do you stitchers do with your finished pieces that you aren't going to frame. I don't mean the small things that you make into pillows or pin keeps.
I have pulled these two pieces from the basket that holds quite a few charts that are already kitted up with the fabric and threads, I'm really trying to stitch these instead of buying new ones and I have finished these and I'm running out of space to hang more things. So I'm wondering what to do with them.

Nature's Beauty
This is a little box I beaded. It is from an older issue of  Bead & Button. It's only about  an inch .

Punch Needle

Last week Wendy posted on her blog her punch needle and it reminded me that I had some finished pieces that had been forgotten.
So this morning I was looking thru the closet where I keep my supplies and stash to see if they were there. I found 3 finished pieces and 1 UFO. I'm not sure how I want to finish them just yet.

The first one is a Sunflower by Charlotte Dudney, I believe the pattern for this came with the DVD that I purchased to do this.

The next one is Ladybug, by PollyWog Designs.I'll have to check and see if they still design punch needle.

And the last one was a kit from Dimensions, its a Heart.

After I finish some of the projects I have started I may pull out UFO that needs finishing.

PictureTrail

I used to have my photos of stitched and beaded pieces on the multiply site, but at the end of the year they made changes so I needed to move the photos. I have been putting them on PictureTtrail, I have more to go but need to find some in my files.
I'm not really sure I like Picture Trail yet so if anyone has other recommendations, please pass them along.

Anyway, you can see what I have up at this link  http://picturetrail.com/sophielei

Thanks

Sophie

Sophie

I don't take many pics of Sophie like I used too. Usually by the time I get the camera or now that my phone can take pics, shes moved or something. I did manage to get this the other day. I got her a new sweater and managed to get it on her. She doesn't like to wear them or little t shirts. She would rather snuggle up in a blanket, so I have a couple around for her to do that. So anyway, just thought I would post a pic of her.

Good Things

This is my first finished piece of cross stitch for 2013. It's small, but I haven't been in the mood to stitch so thought I would start with something small.
I opted to leave the border off and make it into a small pillow.

I have a basket full of charts that have fabrics and threads ready to stitch, so I'm going to try and stitch those instead of buying new ones.

This is the chart for the above piece,I won't stitch it again, so if anyone would like it or maybe you would want start a traveling pattern with it. If your interested leave comments and I'll see how it goes.
I'll decide the first week in Febuary, that  should give everyone time.

A Few Finishes

Well I haven't kept up with my blog much the last of the year, and I can say I'll try to do better, but you know how it is with good intentions.
I haven't been doing much stitching lately, although I did start a small piece over the weekend, but haven't   made  much progress. I have done some beading.
The first is an ornament that I finished up last week. It is called Luminous Riviere Ornament  Cover. It is designed by  Michelle Skobel. She has some nice patterns and kits.

The next thing I beaded was done in Beadpoint. It is called Hiroshige Camellias. It is designed by Ann Benson. Her website is BeasdsEast.com. This design in from her book Beadpoint.
It is stitched with 15/0 seed beads on #18 interlock canvas. I haven't decided how I'm going to frame it yet.

And the last piece has been completed for several years, I'm just now getting it framed. It is Daffodils.
Designed by Debbie Lazaris. The pattern was purchased from The Beadcoop.

There was not a really good way to take a photo of this one because of the metallic beads, you always had a glare, so I hope you can make it out.

Happy Stitching to everyone
