Never Say Never..

About 3 years ago our family pet had to be put to sleep, she had a tumor that was cancer and it had ruptured. She was miserable and no sense in her suffering.  My husband and I decided since the kids were gone we wouldn't have any more pets. Well, we ended up keeping our granddaughters dog for a weekend 4 years ago and she hasn't went home yet, so I guess you could say she is ours now. Then our neighbor adopted a lab from someone moving and it didn't work out for him with his other dogs and the lab took up with my husband, so there's another one.OK, no more animals. Welllll, he got me a 6week chichuahua for Christmas. We went from 1 dog to 3 dogs now. She is so cute and hard to resist. My granddaughter helped name her and she is called Sophie.

I received the chart for this cute little Gingerbread Man from Pam at Kitty & Me Designs and wasn't really sure how  I wanted to finish it, so I    decided to make it into an flat ornament. It turned out pretty good and looks great on the tree. We put up a live tree this year. It has been years since we used a live one. Maybe after Christmas I will check out the sales for a artificial one.
Thank you, Pam for the chart.

This is A Very Merry Winter, I haven't done a design by JBW Designs before and I saw this one and had to do it I really like snowmen and thought it was really cute. I still need to add a hanger to it but I got in a hurry to take some pics.
The way the weather has been, we all may be having a very merry winter.

Monday, November 16, 2009

Well, it's that time again. My jar is coming along. I know I haven't posted any pics of finishes to show for it but I have finished up my ornament exchange for LHN and mailed it off. I don't know what I was thinking and didn't get a picture of it. Maybe when the recipient receives it she will post a pic.

I'm working on a couple other things, but haven't taken any progress pics yet. I'm also working a on birth chart for my sister-in-law, she started it about 4 years ago and never finished it. She has been diagnosed with cancer and not doing well, and asked if I could finish it for her. So I'm really putting all my stitching time in to getting that done rather quickly. Just about there.

A Beady Finish

I like to do some beadwork and just haven't had the time or the space since we moved to get all the beads set up, but I decided one day I needed to do something for a friend. She likes the ornaments I make so I thought that would be a quick project. I made this one as it is quicker than doing some with the peyote panels that can take awhile. I wasn't sure after I got it finished if I wanted to give it to her or not, I'm not sure it looks that good. My husband said it looked good to him so she will will probably get it this week. I also made the little angel for her, too.

You can see some more of my beaded ornaments and other beaded things here.

Some Finishes

One day while looking at some blogs on the web I somehow got to Hohla's blog and she was doing a mystery biscornu sal. She designed it and I thought it was a very pretty one. I'm also a little addicted to making these little cushions. I used the same colors she did because I really liked the way they looked together. Out of all the ones I have made this I think is my husbands favorite one because he keeps going on about how well he likes this one.

So Thank you to hohla for the SAL pattern.

Today is the new moon and time to post my jar. Since I had a few finishes this month I have had to find a larger container. I really wanted something a little prettier but this is all I could find right now. Trimming the fabric for the biscornu helped to fill it alittle, too.

I think I will be on the look out for something else to use in the coming new year.

A Place We Call Home

I just finished this by Country Cottage Needleworks. I just fell in love with it when I saw it. I stitched it on 28 CT. Chai Tea jobelan and used the recommended threads. I'm also working on my very first exchange. It is for LHN Exchange, it is to be an ornament. I can't show pics of that yet.

A few weeks ago I was in Hobby Lobby and came across this book It looked interesting and I like to try new things, so I thought I'd give it a try. There are different patterns to do or you can design your. Different sizes. There's also an egg design.
This is the first fabric ball and with all new things you figure out what you could have done after you do it. All in all it didn't turn out too bad.
Now all I need to do is have more hands and hours in the day to do all the things.

I have a multiply site that was started a couple of years ago, to put my photos of the things I had beaded and I started cross stitching again after several years, so they have been added to it as well.
If anyone is interested they can go here and have a look.
After moving I have found more pics that I need to add, but you know how that is. Thanks for taking the time to look.
Everyone have a great day.

Friday, September 18, 2009

Well, today is the new moon and time to post pics. I thought I had posted my start, but can't find it if I did. I'm still not very good with this blog thing. I do need to find a bigger jar or bowl as this one is getting full, granted it is a little one.

SAL Finish

Well, I have finished my SAL piece for the LHN yahoo group. I think it turned out pretty good. Cute design. It stitched up rather quickly. Now I need to find a framer or figure out how to frame it myself. The framer I used closed so finding another one is hard. Now to finish a couple of things already started or, maybe a new piece.

Wisteria Beaded Medallion

A few months ago I came across this site while looking for something. I thought that would be something a little different to stitch, so I tried a free pattern.Since I do some bead work I had plenty of beads so I purchased this medallion.I don't think it turned out to bad. My husband being the engineer he is, said it's not centered. Oh well. There are some other beaded medallions that I may try later.

The SisterHood is Ready to Travel

Jill is ready to send the sisterhood on and you can see her post to find out details. If you haven't heard the story of how it got started you can read about it here at Daffycat.
It is awesome story and I would love the opportunity to stitch it.

Saturday, September 5, 2009

The scissor fob is Part 2 of the Chair Necessaire . I used the same fabrics and threads as in part 1. I thought I would show the two parts together.
Part 3 looks as if it is a pocket for scissors that will be sewed onto part 4. It looks like it will be a place to hold all your stitching tools. Now to wait on the Fall issue of A Needle Pulling Thread for part 3. Plenty to stitch in the meantime.

Little House Needleworks SAL

I'm starting a SAL today with the LHNS yahoo group. It runs thru Sept. The theme is women, and I choose "Curly Q Ewe". I'm doing it on Water Lily jobelan. I goofed and forgot to buy the crescent colors for it, but I can start and get those this week.

I have gotten addicted to making biscornu's and have wanted to make a 15 sided one, so when saw this one by Just Nan I had to have it. It's going a little slow because I have too many projects started.

I'm doing this on 28ct. Antique White and Mint Green Linen.

Home Of A Needleworker

I have joined LHN and CCN and have posted my this finish. I need to take it to a framer.

Monday, August 3, 2009

This is new to me, I'm not a writer so I don't know how often I will be posting. Maybe I'll get the hang of this. I enjoy all forms of needlework even though I don't know how to do every stitch there is. It would be nice one day to learn more. Right now I do counted cross stich, redwork embroidery, beadwork and a little sewing. I will try to post some pics at a later time.
