Wool Applique

I've been trying some wool applique lately. So far I've done about five projects. Still a lot to learn as each one has a mistake or two. Dear hubby says its just me that sees them.

This one is Daisy pincushion by Primitive Gatherings.
Purchased as a kit, so it had everything to get started except for the threads.
This is Spring has Sprung by Buttermilk Basin, I changed the colors Cally for and used wool felt instead of wool.

These are Garden Minis by Chestnut Junction, stitchery pattern with purchased kit with wool and fabric to make into pillows.

And the last one is Our Promise by Threads that Bind

I need to get back to my cross stitch, as I have about three projects started.

Back from Framers

I finished this a couple of years ago, I couldn't believe it had been that long. Finally had it framed. Really like how it turned out. It's Woodland Star by Nancy's Needle.

Sorry about glare.

The frogs came to visit too many times while stitching on this next piece, I almost chuncked it. So glad it's finally done. This is
Be Mine by Lila's Studio.

I stitched it on 36ct.sand linen using Gentle Arts threads.

A Few Finishes and a Start

It's been a while, but I have a couple of finishes to show. The first is
A Garden for Sissy. Design by Carolyn Manning.

I used the recommended fabric and threads for this, and decided to make it into a pillow.
Next up is a canvas, I took a cyber class by Laura J. Perin for Ribbons with Monograms. I chose the red color way.

I like how it turned out, thought about finishing it into pillow, but hubby thinks I should have it framed. So that's what we'll probably do. Hopefully in the next week or so I will get it there.
My new start is Be Mine, by Lila's Studio. I've had the chart for awhile but had to get the threads. I'm also still working on my Scarlett Letter sampler and my HEAD design. Just didn't get pics of their progress.

Sampler Stitching

This year I decided not to sign up for Sal's, as I wanted to try and do some other things. However, I did sign up on the Scarlet Letter Facebook group for that Sal. I have been wanting to stitch a sampler and thought this might help push me to do it. They voted on different ones and ended picking the top 4. I chose Mary Ann Michell circa 1810.

We were to start on January 1, but we had company for a few days so mine got started a little late. Here's what I have so far,

I've been stitching on another piece but can't show pics right now.
I've also ordered a punch needle pattern, thought I would give this another try. I tried it about 7 years ago and just didn't find any patterns that I really liked and wasn't quite sure what to do with the piece when I finished it. I've seen a lot more of it lately.
So we'll see how it goes.

Last Finishes of 2014

I finished these right before Christmas, but just now finding the time to post.
The first one is Blossom by Carolyn Manning Designs,

It is stitched on handdyed clay jobelan with recommended threads. The little crocheted flowers & buttons were included in the chart. The next one is also a Carolyn Manning design. It is Sparkle

This one is stitched on Thyme Laguna with recommended threads.
It's been rainy & cloudy so wasn't able to get a good pic.

I've decided not to join any Sal's this year, other than doing the sampler on Facebook. I still have a great many charts and stash that I will stitch this year. I also want to try a few other things as well.

Time once again to report on my SFS SAL. Mel is hosting the SAL and I've done fairly good other than buying some threads when needed. That all changed this month, I didn't really do to bad since we have a $25 allowance. I spent $38. I bought 3 charts, I really didn't need. Oh well, they will be fun stitching when I get around to it.
Here is some of what I stitched,

This is what I stitched for the Smalls SAL. It is Garden of Hearts & Flowers Biscornu by Wendy KC Designs.Stitched on 28ct. off white evenweave, with recommended threads except for one that is discontinued now. September Stitch From Stash

Time for the SFS update. Not alot to report this month. I only stitched my smalls piece and continued working on a wip. Happy to say that the stitching is finished and all that is left to do is the beads.
Some of you may have already saw the small piece I did for the SAL, but here it is again

I was doing good this month and hadn't  spent anything, until I went shopping with my daughter. I found a chart at Hobby Lobby that was on clearance that I bought. So I only spent $6.57  for it. We have a $25.00 allowance, so I did ok.

Smalls SAL -September

It seems I haven't posted since last month when I posted my smalls report. Today is the day to report on the smalls.
For this month I stitched a little pincushion from the September 2013 issue of Cross Stitch & Needlework. They had 3 different designs to choose from or do all 3. I only did one but may go back at a later time and do the others.

I used the recommended canvas and threads for this. I made a quick couple of pins to stick init for now.

Stitch From Stash- August Report

Time to post my August update on the SFS SAL. There was a lot of temptation with the St.Charles market and I almost crumbled. Found a few but at the last minute decided not to click the complete order button. I still have alot of things to stitch and things in some of my magazines to stitch. We even had a bonus weekend for the market as well.
Anyway I didn't use the bonus nor spend any money this month. $0. Hubby will be happy.

I did stitch from my stash and completed the Patchwork Garden Pincushion Ball by Twisted Oaks Designs. It has been in my stash for a number of years all kitted up, don't know why I didn't do it before.

I stitched it withe the recommended fabrics and threads. One of the colors of linen I wasn't happy with, it wanted to ravel very badly.

Another finish is Blossoms & Blackbirds by Little House Needleworks.
It is stitched on 28ct. Lt. Mocha Cashel Linen and the recommended threads. I'm thinking of  finishing this into a cushion, will decide soon.

And I stitched a biscornu for a SAL on a Facebook group All About Smalls. A lady in the group designed this pattern, I will have to look up her name for credit.

Also continued working on my Mirabilia, and that's it for now.

Just Nan SAL

I'm late in posting my SAL fir July. I've had it done for a couple of weeks but it has been rather busy and slipped my mind. It needs pressing.
This Lady Scarlet's Journey. I'm not quite sure if I'll frame it or make it into a bellpull.

July Small's SAL Check In

This month I stitched this little Tuffet, It is the Attic Collection Tuffet By Just A Thought, Judy Odell.
It was a fun stitch, I wanted to try the ribbon border, but didn't have any that matched.

Stitch From Stash

It's been awhile and time for the monthly report. I've done a little more stitching this month. I worked on my Mirabellia piece, I'm now half way thru it. I completed the piece for  the Smalls SAL and also the Just Nan SAL. I desperately need to do some finishing on some pieces or see about framing.
I will post pics of the SAL's later. I do have a photo that I forgot about, I stitched this in April and forgot to post.
It is Sunflower Sampler by Country Cottage Needleworks. I used unknown fabric from my stash and the recommended threads. Really needs ironing, sorry for that.

Now to the stash report, I ended up spending $19.81 on threads. It seems I'm always buying threads.
I'll post the other SAL's in a day or so.

A Little Late

I'm late in taking photos and posting this sweet little bear. Using the camera on my phone so the pics aren't great. A couple of weeks ago Kim had a giveaway and I was the lucky recipient of it. I won this beautiful little Fair E. Bear that Kim knitted. I absolutely love it.I have several bears that are crocheted but this is the first for a knitted one. She also added a scissor fob, so that was a wonderful surprise.

The pic doesn't do it justice, much prettier in person.
Thanks again so much Kim!

Just Nan -June

Well, I haven't gotten a whole of stitching done this month. I thought I would have  lots of time to stitch while resting after surgery, while I have had the time it seems that I just wasn't in the mood t stitch. I did get started on part 2 of Lady Scarlet's Journey. Not much more left to do so hopefully will finish soon and go on to part 3.

Stich from Stash

Time for the monthly update.Well I thought since I had to have surgery the first part of the month I would be able to get some stitching done while I was resting up.Not much was done and I don't have pictures to show of what little I did do.

Good news is I didn't spend any money! $0
I did work on my Miribilia, so I'm about  half way there. I did alittle on Just Nan SAL.So that about sums it up for this month.

Sorry for a dark pic.

Smalls SAL -May

It's time for the May update of the Small's SAL. This month I stitched a biscornu by Ink Circles, a chart I've had in my stash for quite some time. It is titled Pretty Little Dust Collector.

I stitched this with the recommended threads and used 28ct. Wedgewood Blue and Luguana Baby Pink. I haven't found the right button for it yet.

May Stitch from Stash

It's time to post about the SFS SAL for  May. I had a carry over of $83.00 plus the allowed monthly amount of $25.00 which brings the total to $108.00
I spent $1.60 again for floss that I ran out of. Having two boxes of extra floss has not been helping, seems I run out of something I don't have.
I started a Mystery SAL by Donna from By the Bay Needlearts, its almost complete. I started stitching on my Just Nan SAL and also did my Smalls SAL. Will post those pics later.
Also continued on with some wips pieces.
That's about it for now.
Thanks everyone!

Crazy Quilt Block

I recently took a beginner crazy quilt class from Kathy. I have always wanted to learn to make one, so this came at the right time. I hesitated because I'm not really good at sewing. I've been a cross stitcher for a number of years, but decided why not.
I really loved it and learned alot. Kathy gave us some great information. I'm hoping to be able to do another class with her when she offers one again.
Ribbon embroidery is something I haven't done before, and have been wanting to. Something else on the list of things to learn. Anyway, some of it came easy , some I had a little difficulty with. All in all I'm very happy with the way it turned out.
Now I just need to figure out how to finish it off, backing, edging , etc. I have never quilted before so this is entirely new.

Small's SAL April

Time for the small's SAL update. I stitched Nantucket Basket Acorn Topper by Lori Birmingham Designs. It was a kit I have had for quite awhile along with the Butterfly Basket Topper also by Lori Birmingham. I stitched both, but have only done the finishing on the Acorn topper.

Acorn Basket Topper

I hope to finish this on the basket soon.
